OB Farmers Market Offers More Than Just Fresh Produce

OB Farmers Market Offers More Than Just Fresh Produce

By Jane Susskind

2-minute read

The OB, or Ocean Beach Farmers Market takes place every Wednesday, from 4-8pm on Newport Ave (between Cable and Bacon Streets). While most farmers markets in San Diego offer a similar variety of produce, dips, honey, oils, and breads, the OB farmers market stands alone in its dedication to creating an experience for the whole family.

Enclosed with palm trees and just minutes from the beach, the OB farmers market is a vibrant celebration of San Diego beach culture and agricultural produce. Upon entering the bustling street, one's senses are immediately activated. Tastes, scents, and sights are everywhere, with a seemingly endless line of vendors to visit. Unlike most other farmers markets in the county, the sensory experience of OB is not limited to those in the market for fresh food. OB farmers market

OB Farmers Market is home to vendors selling leather, jewelry, art, crafts, prepared food, and more. While parents stock up on a variety of fresh food unique to San Diego, children and pets are welcome. In fact, the OB farmers market has become a place for kids to enjoy their Wednesday afternoons, with free llama rides and a bouncy house.

Not only does OB host a bounce house during the hours of its farmers market, but there is live music. If you make it in time to catch the OB Farmers Market today, you'll be hearing live music from Sister Speak, described as "tasty folk" at 4pm and Todo Mundo at 6pm.

Can't make it out today? Don't worry. San Diego has over 25 farmers markets open throughout the county, serving residents every day of the week. Tomorrow's selection includes UTC, San Carlos, Oceanside, North Park, Chula Vista, Horton Square, Pacific Highlands, and Linda Vista. And if you need convincing, these 4 reasons should entice you to go the farmers market in North Park.
